Tom Cruise has already won the best prize life has to offer â€" that of fatherhood. We haven’t been drinking or anything (yet), we just know that’s the kind of thing Tom would say, because that’s the kind of cheese guy he is.
Still, he’s not averse to accepting any other awards that come his way either and so he went along to be crowned Entertainment Icon at the Friars Club in Manhattan.
Tom is only the fourth person in history to be given the special acknowledgment, so it’s a pretty big deal (Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra were the others, fact fans).
Still, we very much doubt this stopped Suri Cruise demanding they left as soon as she’d eaten all the sweet treats she could get in her mouth before falling into a sugar coma.
Tom recently starred in Rock of Ages with Russell Brand ( he of the sensitive break up comments ) and he recalled the time she met him on set.
“The first time she saw Russell striding over towards her she burst out crying," Tom told the Daily Star. "Literally burst out crying on the spot. She was terrified of him.
"She isn't used to being around people who are so tall. I mean the man has freakishly long limbs!"
Um, or perhaps she’s only used to seeing your freakishly small ones Tom.
