And the Best Dressed Met Gala Award 2012 goes to...(vote here)

Often touted as the Oscars of fashion, last night’s Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala (or the Met Ball for short) in New York was a suitably stylish affair.

Hosted by Carey Mulligan, Miuccia Prada and Anna Wintour, the stars were out in force with Lana Del Rey, Jessica Alba and Leighton Meester all spearheading a trend for metallic gowns and - in Leighton's case, woah-there tanned faces - but more of that later...

In turn, Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger, Cate Blanchett and Beyonce all shook their tail feathers in, well, feather detail gowns in a veritable rainbow of shades.

Get a taste for said rainbow - and Heidi Klum's "very lacy, very see-through dress" (her words) below. Oh and count just how many stars picked Prada on the night!
