Ashton Kutcher advert removed after being attacked for ‘racist stereotyping’

An advertising campaign that stars Ashton Kutcher has been pulled from the internet after being accused of “racism”.

In the new Popchips advert, Ashton is seen playing a number of characters who are looking for love on a dating website.

Ashton was seen in brown make up and traditional clothing

Ashton’s portrayal of a Bollywood producer called Raj attracted complaints from viewers, with the actor wearing brown make up and traditional attire to play the Indian man.

Following the criticism online, Popchips removed the advert from their official YouTube and Facebook accounts.

The crisp company said the advert was “created to provoke a few laughs and was never intended to stereotype or offend anyone”.

A spokeswoman added that they hoped “people can enjoy this in the spirit it was intended”.

Ashton also played Darl - based on Karl Lagerfeld - in the ads

Oh and a pot smoker called Nigel

Ashton, 34, is also seen playing an alter ego of Karl Lagerfeld in the advert, as well as a Hells Angel called Swordfish and a pot smoker called Nigel.

He posted the Popchips videos from his official Twitter page last night, but is yet to comment on the complaints attracted by his portrayal of Raj.

If you feel let down by Ashton, how about depending on a better man - yes yes, it's David Beckham in a video with his top off.
