Legally bonded? Reese Witherspoon at the centre of parents' bigamy court battle

Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon’s mother is suing her father for bigamy.

Mary Witherspoon, 63, said estranged husband John, 70, had no right to tie the knot with his new partner, Tricianne Taylor, as they were still officially married.

In legal papers, she alleges that when she confronted him about it he told her he “did not remember getting married”.

And now she “fears he may be suffering early onset of dementia”.

Mrs Witherspoon has not lived with her husband for more than 20 years but says she still loves him and does not want a divorce.

She also claims in legal papers her husband tried to bring Taylor to 36-year-old Reece’s wedding to Jim Toth in March last year, but she was not allowed in.

Mrs Witherspoon took court action in Tennessee after spotting her husband’s marriage to Taylor, on January 12, in a local ­newspaper announcement.
